(Sunday Message for January 28th, 2018)
What you like and are joyful about is excitement.
You need to be excited in order to work properly and take action with hope, gratitude, and joy.
【Scripture】 Haggai 1:14
So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah,
and the spirit of Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people.
They came and began to work on the house of the LORD Almighty, their God,
Hallelujah! May the blessings of the eternal love of God, the peace of the Holy Son,
the fiery love of the Holy Spirit, and the inspiration, movement, and working of the Word fill you in abundance.
Today, I will speak about ‘excitement.’
When it comes to ‘excitement,’ people tend to only think about excitement of the opposite sex,
or excitement of love. But that is not all.
The state in which you like something, or the state in which you are happy about something
is ‘the excited state.’
‘Excitement’ is a driving force that motivates people to take action.
People don’t like to do what they don’t like to do.
People don’t like to eat things that they don’t like to eat, either.
If people don’t like to exercise, then even though it is for the sake of their health.
Excitement can make your heart hot or cold.
Excitement can make you like [something]; it can make you happy, worried, or nervous.
The direction may be different,
but excitement has ‘the power to move the state of your heart and thoughts.’
You need to use the excited state well in order to do various works with ‘hope, joy, and happiness.’
When it comes to excitement, you will not be excited if you just sit still.
If you want to be excited about ‘the work you need to do,’
you need to keep thinking about it and do the work.
If you sit still, then all day long you won’t be excited about work.
Since there is no ‘excitement about the work to be done,’ you won’t want to do anything, either.
There are ‘hundreds of kinds of’ excitement in life.
Whatever it may be, if you like it, are happy about it,
and think and take action while being set on fire with hope,
you will be excited, and you will take action with joy and hope.
You need to also pray while being in ‘an excited state.’ Then you will be able to pray well.
In order to do so, you need to frequently seek the Trinity, say what you need to say,
and make it a habit to converse with Them deeply.
Otherwise, it will only be a surface level shallow prayer, so when you pray, you won’t be happy or joyful.
If you are like that, you won’t pray [much].
You need to also listen to and take action upon the Word in ‘an excited state.’
Since there are many things you don’t know, you should listen to the Word repeatedly,
and concentrate on it while trying to realize deeply.
And then if you reach a level where you are curious to listen to the Word, so you want to hear it quickly,
a level where you look forward to listening to the Word,
and a level where you like to listen to the Word and are happy to hear it, then that level is the excited state.
At that state, you will take action upon the Word, and you will get to know the taste of taking action.
Not only is it true for prayer and the Word, but whatever it may be,
if you like and are happy about what you think and do, then you are excited in that respect.
When you become excited, you can even do difficult tasks
because you will like it and be happy about the task.
If you don’t like it and you are not happy with it, any task will be difficult.
That is why liking something and being happy about it is truly significant.
In order to like something and be happy about it,
you shouldn’t sit still but you should think and take action.
Then you will be aroused with excitement, and you will do what you must do.
This is the case with everything in faith.
You need to like and be happy about the work that you are responsible for.
Then you will do it easily without much difficulty.
Regarding the work that each of you must do every day, oftentimes you say,
‘I have to work again today. I have to study again. It’s hard. I am tired of it.’
I am sure that this is the case whether it is physical work or spiritual work.
At that time, think about the purpose of that work, think about satisfaction,
and do the work while being joyful and happy within the Lord.
If you forget about ‘what you like and are happy about,’ in other words, ‘excitement,’
the work will be difficult and hard no matter what you do.
‘What you like and are happy about’ is a blessing.
There are people who have a hard time
because there is so much work to do and they don’t have the strength [to do them all].
For such people, you should cut down on the burden by making adjustments each time,
but you shouldn’t cut down the number of work you must do, or stop working.
‘Work’ is your mission, and your crown, but if you cut down the work
because you have so much to do and you don’t have strength to do [them all],
it is the same as letting go of the authority and blessings of your mission.
This is the case with the work of faith.
Evangelizing, managing, listening to the Word and taking action, teaching the Word and preaching it,
studying the Word, preaching sermons, singing, and praying—with all of them,
you need to do it while liking it and being happy about it.
Then you will be excited and you can do them well.
If you are willing to do it, you will do it.
However, since you don’t know the value as to why you need to do it,
and you don’t know the purpose or the future, you don’t do it even though you are able to.
‘Those who are willing’ to do the work they have to do try to do it at any cost,
even by making snippets of time.
If a person truly believes in and loves the Lord,
they do not give excuses but take action with the Lord to the end, with pleasure and joy.
This is how you can tell if they love the Lord and obey him.
You can do everything—whether it’s difficult, hard, good, big or small—
only if you do it while liking it and being joyful and excited about it.
Do it ‘to the end with the Lord!’
