(The Year-End Service Message for Dec. 31st, 2017)
It is not only when you fulfill the purpose that you are happy.
The time spent on going towards the purpose is also joy and hope.
【Scripture】 John 16:32-33
But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home.
You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for my Father is with me.
“ have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart.
Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.
For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Hallelujah! May the blessings of the eternal love of God, the peace of the Holy Son,
the fiery love of the Holy Spirit, and the inspiration, movement, and works of the Word fill you in abundance.
Even with strangers, you need to get acquainted [with one another] to become close and intimate, right?
If you don’t befriend them, they will just end as strangers.
In this way, you need to also get acquainted with ‘life.’
Then you will be close and intimate [with life], become a person who love your own life,
keep moving and taking action in the course of your life, and live a rewarding and hopeful life.
If you want to gain [things] in the course of your life,
you need to put in that much effort to gain them.
And if you have gained [things],
[then] you need to also put in that much effort in order to not lose them.
Whether [it is] lives, or things that exist, if you have gained them,
it is glory regardless of whether they are small or big.
But if you just leave them alone just because you have gained them, you will lose them again.
If you have gained [things], then you need to continuously manage them
and pay attention to them as much as you have gained them.
The same is true with your body.
Even though you live with your body as your own, you should not just leave it alone.
You need to continuously manage it and pay attention to it.
Even though you gain with your body without limits,
You also need to pay attention to your body without limits just as much as you have gained with it.
The same is true with God, the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Son Lord.
If you have received [things] from the Trinity,
you need to pay attention and take action [on them] as much as you have received them.
In the course of your life also, you need to always take action and move.
But people think that taking action is difficult.
So, they say, “I feel lazy to take action. It is hard. It is tiring.”
You need to get rid of the thought that taking action is tiresome and difficult.
You need to take action and move.
Then your brain will be happy, excited, and feel pleasure.
When finding treasures also, it’s not only when you grab hold of the treasure that you feel happy and excited.
When you sweat and dig them out, your brain and body also get caught up in it
and take action with joy and excitement, so those efforts are ‘joy.’
Let’s say you are running towards a spring because you are thirsty.
If you think to yourself, ‘It’s hard. I feel lazy. It is tiring,’ the whole time you are going there,
Then according to your thoughts it will really become a difficult time of suffering
for the entire duration of time it takes to get there.
[However,] if you go there with joy and hope while thinking about drinking water,
Then according to your thoughts it will become joy and hope throughout the entire time of going there.
If you are ecstatic only when you drink water, then the time you feel joy and delight is too short.
But if you take the time of running towards the spring
in order to drink water as the time of hope and joy and take action,
then you will feel joy and excitement for a long [period] of time.
With fruit trees also, you need to put in hard work and effort
for about four to five yearsuntil you can pick the fruits and eat them after having planted the trees.
Even with fully grown trees, you need to fertilize them [starting] from [the] spring, put pesticide [on them],
and only after four to five months [have] passed can you pick [the] fruits and eat them.
So, compared to the time spent on raising and taking care of the trees,
the time you can pick fruits and eat them is very short.
So that is why [people] say, “It is tedious. I feel lazy. It is hard to put in work.”
But if you take the period of working and raising the trees as ‘joy,’
then your brain nerves will be stimulated with joy and hope,
and the work will be ‘pleasure’ and you will do them.
Even if you go through tribulations, you need to go while thinking with hope.
If you think of the period of [tribulation] as the time when fruit trees blossom flowers,
it is hopeful because after flowers wither, the time when the trees bear fruit will come.
You have to make your thoughts strong.
You have to arm your thoughts with the ‘thoughts of God and the Lord.’
Even if things are hard, if you make your thoughts perfect, you will be happy.
A person who doesn’t think well doesn’t take action even when the environment is good,
and so that person cannot gain.
A person who thinks well gains by taking action even when the environment is bad.
People also say you can only lead a life of faith well when you are comfortable.
However, if you are comfortable, the ‘clouds of negligence’ will rise.
If the weather is hot, you worry that it may rain, but if the weather is chilly,
it may be cold, but you don’t worry about rain. The same is true with faith.
When things are difficult and challenging, if you build a bronze wall you’re your ‘thoughts’
and take action without loosening the belt of alertness,
you will gain the things that you can gain only in that environment
and enjoy them throughout your whole life.
The sun has now set for 2017, the year of action.
By wrapping up 2017 to the end with the thoughts of God and the Lord,
I bless you to receive 2018, ‘the year of hope and thanksgiving,’ with the Lord!
